LUNCHATERIUM
Jul. 30th, 2012 09:19 pmOrbiting Terra’s equator is the Lunchaterium (yes, it is labeled as such). Lunch is not so much planet-shaped as it is a single building, with one large circular room. At the center is the Lunch Lady, a towering behemoth of a steam-powered robot, with a dozen friendly-if-rather-unattractive brass faces, and a hundred arms, poised at all times to serve up any of the infinite dishes in her repertoire. She has been programmed with the cuisine of a thousand thousand worlds, and each dish has been carefully over-cooked and under-seasoned with as close a proximity of love as can be accomplished with steam and gears.
Lunch is open for meals once each four hours through the day and night, and ninety minutes is allotted for each meal. After that the self-cleaning cycle begins, and you probably don’t want to be around for that. There is a rope ladder dangling from the entrance; for the mobility-impaired, please ring the bell and a wicker basket will be lowered.
